Ultimately my philosophy is rooted in the knowing that this body is art, and creativity is our birthright.
My movement journey feels synapsed with my first memories. From toddler to teen, I was immersed in a small town ballet studio. Though once things began to get competitive, I dropped dance temporarily. At 18 I became a licensed massage therapist, which eventually got me back into my body. I will forever be grateful for that program for affirming the mind-body-spirit connection.
I found the hoop within the same timeline, and hoop dance quickly became my main priority for the 7 years that followed. Flow arts, and the circus community continue to play a large connecting role for my dance with and without props.
About 4 years ago, my fascination with circular movement eventually brought me to the pole. Where I had the realization that pole is “object manipulation”, but instead of the person holding the prop, it’s the prop holding the person. Combing lighthearted play from circus, and artistic qualities of ballet, I am having the time of my life discovering “my style”.
Ultimately I am forever grateful for pole transforming my physical body in a way that I never thought was possible. As above, so below. As I develop strength and awareness in the physical, I feel the transformation reflected into the mental. A natural evolution that I think radical self expression, and busting through self limiting beliefs will do.
My highest excitement is now making this level of transformation accessible and inclusive for all beings. With the intention to create a sense of freedom and home within the body.
Thank you for exploring my website, it would be an honor to be apart of your movement journey.
Muchas amore,
Madison Camino
